A interesting view on christians & homosexuality thanks to the west wing & you tube here

Well I haven’t blogged again, I think I need to really get back into this. A real reason is my issues with uploading photos but anyway I will hope this week I will get back and talk to Ryan about fixing up my blog a little!

I just did want to acknowledge that today is International Day Against Homophobia, I wouldn’t say that I have experienced a great deal of violent discrimination; I have discrimination from Christians and Churches plus a few comments sometimes at oxford st from a few passers by.

Here is just a yarn about homophobia

Homophobia stems from individual, social, and systemic prejudice. It reveals a real hostility for or exclusion of homosexual persons, men and women, which has repercussions on every walks of life.

Like all attitudes and behaviour based on prejudice and hatred, such as sexism or misogyny, racism and antisemitism, homophobia has no serious foundation. It comes from one’s and society’s inability to grasp the differences of others, which are then perceived as a threat to individuals, and, consequently, society in general. Some secular and religious movements even pretend that full legal and social recognition of homosexuality will put the perpetuation of the human race in peril. Homophobia’s premiss is that homosexuality is inferior, abnormal and marginal.

I don’t care if your gay or straight, Christian or not and even if you don’t agree with GLBT lifestyle but I ask you to stand with us to stop the discrimination no matter your personal views. It has been a great move by the Rudd government to bring a lot of equity especially financial to the GLBT community which is fantastic. I still advocate there is a long way to go, both as a socially, the general public and especially churches. I was proud to march in mardi gras along side my Christian friends and also to have in the march 100revs. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the Christian community to be aware of the gay community and start dealing with the feelings & hurt the community has received from Christians forgetting the issue if its a sin or not but God’s call to love our neighbours & not to judge. The issue of homosexuality been a sin shouldn’t really matter, I think its more of a issue that Christians judge GLBT people which the bible is clear and talked about 100’s compared to a few references that are really not clear and are required to be so read into.

Well haven’t I been a naughty boy over the past two months, for that sorry but lets move on.

Just a little update

Uni
I have started my uni course this year, overall its ok. Still very scared about how to enage and do the course material with the distance but more how to do the study at the level they are requiring without the understanding of doing a undergrad so its scary and this week is gonna require alot of work and moving past alot of the underlying shit that I do wanna do. It was fun to visit melbourne for the 2 days of classes catching trams and doing the whole uni thing but I was also very happy when it ended, it was just a bit to big for my little simple mind.

Mardi Gras
What a amazing experience marching have so many people happy and celbrating. People where all so happy. More than the experience of marching was for me the ending of a journey of me coming out and also accepting my faith with me been gay. There was just this overwhelming feeling of acceptance and okness for been gay & publicly christian.

Work
As most people are aware that I haven’t been doing alot of work, I have secured employment now working in the inner city for missionbeat with mission australia. The job is ok, not as great paying as I would like but for the moment I enjoy the work and the experience and thats good enough for me. Its gonna be a change of lifestyle as all this work is and the travel to marrickville is gonna be a drag but good enough for me.

Car
Well as most people are aware my subaru forester was crashed whilst in tassy late last year and my lazy & broke self hasn’t got the thing fixed but last week it went in for repairs and what a great feeling that was. Driving a nice camry around whilst my baby is repaired and I am so looking forward to picking her up!

Chaser
Last week Jimmy & adventure sam went ultimo to see the chaser put there new skits to a new audience for the first time and gosh it was funny. I think it will be funnier when they have microphones that don’t sound like they are been broadcast from underwater on the back of a speeding submarine. I think there will be some stuff you wont see in the show but oh gosh it was funny. So good times and thank you RSS feeds.

Everything else
Most things in life are good, having the normal ups & downs you get. Problems with friends makes me sad but again its part of life. Issues with men always provides entertainment, money isn’t great with such a number of different priorities so its gonna be another 3 months of living poor to get rid of some of my debt and start to get on my feet.

Right now
I am about to pack up my things for the weekend over in the innercity as most weekends. For mel’s daughters birthday party (kids party) then off to Al & Mickey’s engagement party with Bec in penrith. The plan is return to Mel’s party (adult) for a long night of drinking sorrows away. Sunday to sleep it off then off to work at 3pm yay for little traffic in the city.

Well the day is upon us! Its Mardi Gras time. Report to follow

Well here I am sitting at Sydney Airport, gosh I feel like a frequent flyer was only here last week. I have done soo much flying in the last few years; its funny it has all fun flying used to be exiting now just feels like a bus just more expensive.

Also my firefox is gone funny everytime I correct a spelling mistake the first option is Adolescent but when you click on it, it really gives you the option that should be there. Stupid.

Just getting so exited about Mardi Gras seen 5 or 6 gay or lesbian couples arriving at the airport from around the country its great a time of year for any GLBT person.
