Thats a good idea!

Well having a surf around the internet, I found Virgin Blue’s Carbon offset scheme. Once you have booked your flight you go & add your details in. They calculate your carbon usage & allow you to offset and make your flight carbon neutral. For my last flight to Tasmania I payed $1.20, I feel good about that! I think its a good idea. I think I might have a bigger look into how to offset my carbon usage.

Why..thats no fair

My question I have been pondering for the past few months. Why are guy toilets always a few more steps than ladies toilets. I would say from my experience 80% mens toilets are further. Why is this? I don’t think its fair.

Time to read

I am re-reading the book small is beautiful by Eric Schumacher.

Its one of those books that for everything that is stuffed in this world, he talks about. Its worth a read; ive got a copy of it.

This quote stuck out to me this morning; “Are there not indeed enough ’signs of the times’ to indicate a new start is needed?” Personally I think so. Question is how am i gonna make that change.

Lest we forget

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Australian Rules

Rented a movie called Australia Rules

m488715.jpg

Very interesting movie, about a small country town.  Worth a watch

This is what ABC said about it
Set in a seaside community in South Australia, “Australian Rules” is a classic story of race, friendship and generational change. Gary Black (Nathan Phillips) and Dumby Red (Luke Caroll) are best mates on the local footy team. Dumby is a star, heading for great things. Blacky’s dad Bob is stone racist and a bully and the drama plays out framed by the story of the local team heading for the finals, glory and tragedy.

Great cameo performances from Lisa Flanagan as Mrs Black and Tom Budge as Pickles the tearaway loony (and team’s rover!) on the team round out a touching and effective movie well and simply directed by Paul Goldman.

The footy scenes are convincing and often very funny but the details of this little dysfunctional community (not exactly Pearl Bay) idyllically and ironically set by the sea make this movie one to see more than once. It’s sure to find its way onto the syllabus of decent media courses at schools and universities. And the story? We all own this one and it owns us!

Justice is served

Very happy about the decision that Chas Licciardello was found not guilty of offensive behavior. I also like his statement about big day out, fly those flags high!

A time for change.

Currently the copyright for songs is 50 years before it comes into the public domain. Which means in the next few years alot of songs are going to be in the public domain meaning that you can then have the right to do what ever, so people who are still living won’t get there money for there property.

The reason I highlight this is that today is Edvard Munch birthday the painter of “the scream”. The picture below is hosted in the united states which means I can host this picture because of the copyright laws in the US but if you where in Norway it would be illegal because there rules are life of the artist + 70 years much longer then the 50 years total set by the US.

250px-The_Scream.jpg

This was also highlighted in the uk with a push to have copyright extended from 50 years to 95 years. Sir Cliff Richard first songs will soon be out of copyright, and that sucks he will overnight stop getting money from them, why thats stuped.

I personally like norways approach of there life + a certain amount of time after they die. So at least while there where alive there getting money.

Stuped laws!

Thats interesting…

I always find listening to older, wiser more experienced people who have done the hard yards of life. There is so much to learn from people who have done the hard slog. I was watching Biography channel, doing a thing on Sir Sean Connery. I found it very interesting just hearing him accepting his AFI lifetime achievement award.
Watch it here

“Movies are a utopia or is like shovelling shit up a hill.” Sean Connery. That made me laugh.

I had lunch with my grandma and I was find that interesting hearing old people and there wisdom.

Its a really hard thing maybe I will hibernate for the month of christmas will be much eaiser.

So far 55 cards & 14 presents, wait may that 57 cards just remembered. See I do this every year right me list, and do I send any out nope never. I have a fair stockpile from my koorong days though.
